The Socioeconomic impact of free Zones in Bangladesh

Free zones have transformed economies. Particularly export processing zones (EPZs) have played important role in attracting foreign investment. Bangladesh is least developed country (LDC) trying to become as middle income country (MIC). The paper endeavors to unfold how far the EPZs have played role in transforming Bangladesh economy? Indicators such as exports, employment, and foreign investment are taken into account to analyze the degree of EPZs socioeconomic impact. Women empowerment, corruption, poverty and class mobility are also consider as important factor to assess the stretch and depth of social and economic change.
