Pakistan’s Potential Alliance with China & Iran: Possible Impact on Trade and Energy

 

Pakistan, China and Iran all have nuclear capabilities.  Pakistan is an energy deficient country whereas China needs a lot of energy to meet particularly its industrial needs. Iran is world fourth largest oil producer having capacity and capability to meet regional and international energy needs. This paper endeavors to unfold possible outlook created in aftermath of Pakistan’s potential alliance with China and Iran.  The Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline, China’s huge investment and technical support in Gwadar deep seaport project of Pakistan and several other dimension of bilateral trade between Pakistan and China and Pakistan and Iran warrant the investigation. The paper also explores the global and regional impact of such an alliance, especially on GCC countries and on Central Asian republics as well.
