Central Asian states are Muslim majority nations. The 70 years of communist rule have tempered their religious and cultural identities. In an era when Islamism has emerged as not only as an alternate discourse among Muslims but also as universal mode of resistance, Central Asian republic are going through transitional phase pf cultural, political and religious transformation. This paper examines how the masses of central Asian states are responding to call of non-local and nonindigenous version of political Islam in contrast to their local and traditional version of though and practice in larger premises of Sufi Islam. The endeavors to explore the relationship among various variables of society such as economy, politics and transnational cooperation.
